For my second concentration piece I wanted to push myself more than my first, doing a full body drawing, along with the challenge of doing a complicated outfit and shading. The model i used for this project was Barbra Streisand in the movie "Hello, Dolly"
My goal was not to recreate the photo, but to make it in my own style and i feel that for the most part I succeeded at that. I am very proud of the dress and clothing, with the shading. I like how the gray watercolor looks on the white background. Overall, I think this project will be a great form of personal growth as I believe I excelled at many of my goals with it.
However, I am still very unhappy with this project. The proportion, especially on the head and arms is very off. I mistakenly shrugged it off when I was sketching, without realizing how prominent it was. If I had to do this project over again I would fix that. I also had an idea to "break down" the image in a similar way to the first project, possibly using a skeleton doing the same pose and wearing the same clothes. I didn't do this because of my ultimate dissatisfaction with the project, and maybe if I had been more proud of it i would have fully realized the idea.
Overall, I'm proud of the work and progress this project represents but I still am not happy with it.
