concentration 5

Reference Picture:

For this concentration piece I did a forward facing portrait of Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis) from the 1986 musical movie, "Little Shop of Horrors". For this piece I put an emphasis on expression and details in the face that are usually ignored, such as the geometric shapes you can break a nose up into. My goal was not to recreate the picture, as you can see I changed the expression and tone, moreso i just used the picture to help make the face accurate to the person i based it off of. Because of this, I believe it is one of my  most successful and good looking concentrations. Looking back to my first one, I can really see progress with my ability to draw faces which was my goal with my concentration. I think this whole project has been very helpful to me, as i had really hoped it would be. There are some parts of this piece I dont like, such as the eyes, but mostly they were accidents that weren't meant to look like that. Overall I am very proud of the facial structure and expression, which was the focus of the concentration as a whole.

Galaxy boi2.0

This watercolor painting features two of  my characters dancing through space on an ice walkway, above a black hole or other planet the ice ring is orbiting. They're both part of a story I'm developing, they're a race of cosmic beings hence their spacial appearances. I used a lot of contrast in this piece with blue and orange  colors. This helps make the image more visually interesting and convey a sense of danger , as the orange and mysterious body below where they're dancing could be troubling and they're risking something by doing what they're doing. Overall I'm pretty proud of this concentration, I feel I am getting closer to my goal with the concentrations and they are really helping me improve. I referenced the poses used here from a wallpaper I saw when visiting North Carolina:
Once I saw this, it really inspired me and I knew I had to interpret into my own style somehow. I think for the most part I succeeded, although I unfortunately am still quite unhappy with the poses and anatomy of the faces, I can see I have improved greatly since starting my concentration and I am getting closer to my goal.
